As we approach the peak of summer, we want to take a moment to share a few important reminders to help keep your pool in top condition during the hotter months.
☀️ Increased Heat = More Chlorine Use
Warmer temperatures and more sunlight mean your pool will naturally use more chlorine. This is perfectly normal, as chlorine works harder to fight off contaminants and protect your water from algae and bacteria in the heat. Don’t be surprised if you see higher chlorine consumption on your service reports – it’s just your pool doing its job!
💧 Watch Your Water Level
Summer heat also causes faster evaporation, which can significantly lower your pool’s water level. Maintaining the correct water level is crucial – your pool water should always be halfway up the skimmer opening, between the top and bottom.
🛠️ Why Water Level Matters
Low water levels can lead to serious issues, including:
Pump Damage: If the water drops too low, your pool pump may start sucking in air instead of water. This can cause it to run dry, which can quickly overheat and damage the motor.
Poor Circulation: Without enough water, your filtration system can’t work efficiently, leaving your pool dirty or unbalanced.
Skimmer Malfunction: If water is below the skimmer, it won’t pull in debris properly, which can clog your system and reduce water clarity.
A quick weekly check and top-up can go a long way in protecting your pool equipment and keeping your water clean and safe.
✅ Quick Tip:
Set a weekly reminder to check the water level – especially after hot or windy days, or after heavy pool use.
